Just four weeks ago, we opened our doors at Elms Community Centre with a simple promise: to offer a warm welcome and practical support for anyone needing a bit of help.
Since that first Saturday, we have welcomed 12 local households, bringing essential groceries and relief to 31 neighbours, including 14 children. From full pantry bags picked up at our Saturday drop-in to emergency doorstep deliveries, we have delivered food support when it was needed most.
Alongside our pantry shelves, our digital cafe has quickly become a vital hub of connection for our visitors. Beyond receiving essential groceries, the majority of the neighbors who came through our doors were also supported with direct digital help – from setting up emails to creating and updating CVs. More than just a service, every visit is wrapped in hospitality, offering a listening ear and a chat over a warm drink.
Great New Partnerships: FareShare & Morrisons
Our community pantry thrives on teamwork, and we are incredibly thankful for the ongoing kindness of our supporters. This week, that circle of support grew even larger with two fantastic new partnerships.
FareShare Greater Manchester: We officially collected our very first FareShare allocation last week! As a Community Food Member of FareShare, we can reliably transform surplus food into nutritious meals for local families.
Morrisons Whitefield: We are delighted to be supported by the Morrisons Community Food Programme. A massive thank you to Santosh, Community Champion at Morrisons Whitefield and every local shopper who bought a Pick Up Pack to help stock our pantry this week!
Let’s Make a Difference Together
We are a small team with a big mission, and we quite literally cannot do this without you. If you would like to make a difference with us, please get involved:
Donate Food: We always welcome non-perishable staples (canned goods, cereal, rice, pasta, and long-life milk) to share with local families and individuals. You can contact us to arrange a collection or drop off.
Give Your Time: Our hub relies on friendly volunteers to help organize stock, greet visitors, and offer a warm welcome every Saturday. If you would like to join us, please complete our volunteer sign up form.
Donate Online: Every financial contribution goes directly toward purchasing fresh food and essential supplies for our neighbours in need. Click here to donate.
Come On In – Our Doors Are Open
